SEO Consultant for Flooring Companies

Flooring search splits by material and by stage. “Flooring near me” and “flooring installation near me” are decided on the map pack. Before that, homeowners spend weeks on “LVP vs laminate”, hardwood refinishing costs and tile prices, and those pages decide who gets asked for the estimate. I build a page for each material and each service, and measure them in estimates and installs.

If one “Flooring” page lists hardwood, LVP, tile and carpet together, Google has no single page to rank for any of them.

Sound Familiar?

Signs this is what's holding you back

01

Brand-only traffic

People who already know your name, and nobody else

On one flooring account, 76% of the clicks on its top queries were the company's own name. The site was found by past customers and referrals, and was close to invisible on the searches new homeowners make.

02

One page for five materials

Hardwood, LVP, laminate, tile and carpet on a single list

“Laminate flooring” alone is 74,000 searches a month, “carpet installation” 14,000 and “tile installation” 9,300. A single products page gives Google one thin answer to five different questions.

03

Store or installer?

Google can't tell whether you sell floors, fit them, or both

A showroom site full of product swatches reads like a shop. An installer site with no material pages reads like a handyman. Buyers search both ways, so the site has to answer both, on separate pages.

04

Bare Business Profile

One category, no products, no install photos

The map listing names “flooring” and stops there. Each material you install belongs in the profile as its own product under one installation category, with photos of real floors in real homes.

The Plan

What I'd do for your flooring business

Six moves, in the order they usually pay back. Each one is a service with its own page if you want the detail.

01Local SEO

Win the map pack for every town you install in

Installer searches are decided on the map. One installation category with each material listed as a product, matching details on every directory, and reviews that name the floor and the town.

Audit my map presence
02Topical Maps

Plan the site as material × service × city

Hardwood, LVP, laminate, tile and carpet each get a hub, with installation, refinishing and repair pages under them, and city pages only where you actually take installs.

Map my flooring site
03Content & Copywriting

Own the comparison and cost questions

“LVP vs laminate”, refinishing costs and “best flooring for kitchen” bring the homeowners who are still choosing. Each guide ends on the install page and the estimate form, not on another post.

Plan my flooring content
04On-Page SEO

Give every material page real depth

Each page covers the prep (subfloor, moisture, underlayment), the trim and transitions, the cost range and photos of your own installs. That is what separates it from a manufacturer's catalogue page.

Fix my material pages
05Technical SEO

Settle the site before adding pages

Page templates, URL patterns and internal links agreed per page type, so the store pages, material hubs and city pages stop competing and each one has a clear job.

Check my site structure
06Off-Page SEO

Earn links a flooring company would have

Manufacturer dealer listings, local builders and remodelers you install for, and home shows you take part in, each checked before outreach. No bulk directory submissions.

A small flooring company whose search traffic was mostly its own name. A monthly report showed clicks tripling and impressions more than tripling over a comparable window, with average position climbing from page 3 and beyond into page 2. Real, fast movement, from a small base.

The honest part: This is a small account. The earlier snapshot showed under 2,000 clicks across the top queries, 76% of them the brand name. One month in the report window was an unfilled report template and contributes no data, and the report gives percentages, not absolute click totals.

Work Across Trades?

If you do more than one thing

Trade Terms, Plain English

The words you'll hear, and what they mean

The trade and SEO terms that come up in flooring work, so a report never reads like a foreign language.

LVP
Luxury vinyl plank: vinyl boards printed to look like wood, usually click-lock and water resistant.
Floating floor
A floor that clicks together and rests on the underlayment, fixed to nothing below.
Expansion gap
The ¼ to ½ inch space left at the walls so the floor can move. Trim hides it.
Acclimation
Leaving the flooring in the room before install so it settles to the home's moisture.
Material × city page
One page for one floor type in one town, like “hardwood refinishing in Columbus”.
Business Profile products
Items listed on your Google map profile, where each material you install gets its own entry.

Questions

What people ask before starting

Do we need a separate page for each flooring material?

Yes. Laminate, LVP, hardwood, tile and carpet each have their own searches, prices and questions. One page per material, with installation and repair pages under it, gives Google a clear answer for each.

We have a showroom and an install crew. What should the site lead with?

Both, on separate pages. Store searches like “flooring stores near me” and installer searches like “flooring installation near me” come from homeowners at different moments. The homepage points to each.

Most of our search clicks are our own company name. Is that a problem?

It means past customers find you and new ones don't. On one flooring account, 76% of top-query clicks were the brand name. Material, cost and city pages are how the site reaches homeowners who have never heard of you.

Should we write about flooring we don't install?

Only as comparisons that lead to what you do install. An “LVP vs laminate” guide is worth writing if you fit one or both. A page on a floor you never fit brings visits that can't turn into a job.

Want more flooring estimates and installs from Google?

Send me your site and the areas you serve. I'll look at it myself and reply personally, usually within one business day.
