SEO Consultant for Home Improvement Contractors

Home improvement search splits by trade and by urgency. A leaking roof or a garage door stuck shut is a repair call, decided on the map pack in minutes. A kitchen, a bathroom or new siding is a project the homeowner prices for weeks, and cost guides and material comparisons decide who gets the estimate. I build each trade its own pages for both, and measure them in estimates and booked jobs.

If one “Services” page lists roofing, windows and remodels together, Google has no single page to rank for any of them.

Signs this is what's holding you back

01

Copy-paste money pages

The same text on every service page

On one garage door account, the June status audit found the same copy repeated across 8 or more money pages. Spring repair, opener repair and new doors read almost alike, so Google had no reason to rank one of them.

02

Orphaned service pages

Pages that book jobs, with nothing linking to them

That same audit found no links from the homepage to any money page. The page with the most authority on the site passed none of it to the pages that actually sell spring repairs and new doors.

03

Leads nobody can count

Form reports that disagree with themselves

One August report called every form fill bot spam, while its own summary table marked 5 of 8 as qualified. Until spam is filtered and leads are tagged, nobody can say what SEO produced.

04

One page for ten trades

Roofing, siding, windows and kitchens on a single list

Each trade has its own searches, its own season and its own map pack. A single “Services” page that lists all of them gives Google one weak answer for ten different questions.

The Plan

What I'd do for your home improvement business

Six moves, in the order they usually pay back. Each one is a service with its own page if you want the detail.

01Local SEO

Win the map pack for every trade you run

Repair searches are decided on the map. Profile categories for each trade, matching details on every directory, and reviews that name the job (a spring, a roof leak) and the town.

Audit my map presence
02Topical Maps

Plan the site as trade × service × city

Roofing, gutters, siding, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, basements, decks and garage doors each get a hub, with service pages under it and city pages only where you actually work.

Map my contractor site
03On-Page SEO

Rewrite duplicated money pages

Every money page gets its own copy, its own photos of real jobs and FAQ schema answering the questions homeowners ask on the estimate visit. No two service pages share a paragraph.

Fix my service pages
04Content & Copywriting

Own the cost and materials questions

Roof replacement cost, kitchen remodel cost and composite versus wood decking bring the project buyers. Each guide ends on the service page and the estimate form, not on another post.

Plan my remodel content
05Technical SEO

Link the homepage to the pages that sell

Homepage, menus and footer point to the money pages, crawl paths get shorter, and thin or duplicate URLs are merged so each trade has one page doing the ranking.

Check my internal links
06Off-Page SEO

Earn links a real contractor would have

Suppliers, manufacturer dealer pages, local builders' associations and community sponsors, each checked before outreach. No bulk directory submissions.

A garage door and gate company went from 44 clicks a month early in the engagement to 161 by mid-year, per a status audit, and clicks kept climbing through August. The same audit showed how much of the site was still unfinished, which is why I report it with the caveats below.

The honest part: The June status audit rated the money pages weak: copy duplicated across 8 or more pages, zero FAQ schema, no homepage links to money pages. The August report contradicts itself (its narrative says zero qualified leads, all bot spam; its summary table shows 5 of 8 submissions qualified), and August impressions fell 11.4% while clicks rose.

Work Across Trades?

If you do more than one thing

Trade Terms, Plain English

The words you'll hear, and what they mean

The trade and SEO terms that come up in home improvement work, so a report never reads like a foreign language.

Money page
A page built to book a job, like “garage door spring repair”, as opposed to a blog post.
Trade × city page
One page for one trade in one town, like “roof repair in Denver”.
Flashing
Bent metal that seals the joints where a roof meets a wall, chimney or valley.
Torsion spring
The wound spring above a garage door that lifts it. When it snaps, the door won't open.
FAQ schema
Code that marks up the questions and answers on a page so Google reads them as Q&A.
Qualified lead
A form or call from a real homeowner with a real job, after spam is filtered out.

Questions

What people ask before starting

We do roofing, siding and remodels. Do we need a page for each?

Yes. Each trade has its own searches, its own season and its own map pack. One page per trade, then service pages under it, then city pages where you actually take work. A single services list ranks for none of them.

Should repairs and replacements share a page?

Rarely. “roof leak repair” and “roof replacement cost” come from different homeowners at different moments. The repair page wins the urgent call, and the replacement page with a cost guide wins the estimate.

Our form gets lots of spam. How do you know SEO is working?

Filter the spam, then tag what's left. On the garage door account, one report called every form fill spam while its own table marked 5 of 8 as qualified. I reconcile forms and calls against real estimates so both numbers agree.

Do we still need SEO if we pay for leads or ads?

Paid leads stop the day the budget does, and the same leads are often sold to several contractors. Your own map listing and service pages bring homeowners who asked for you by name or by town, and keep working.
