SEO Consultant · Movers & Logistics

SEO Consultant for Moving & Logistics Companies

Moving search splits by distance. Local moves (“movers near me”, 77,000 searches a month) are won on the map, with reviews that name the town and the move. Long-distance moves are researched for weeks: costs, routes, cover and whether the mover is licensed. Haulage and freight buyers search by mode and lane. I build a page for each, and measure them in booked moves and quote requests.

If one “services” page covers local, long-distance, packing and storage, Google can't tell which search it answers.

Signs this is what's holding you back

01

One page for every move

Local, long-distance, packing and storage on a single URL

A local apartment move and a cross-country house move are different searches with different buyers. When both land on one “services” page, that page ranks weakly for each and the map listing has nothing specific to point to.

02

Licence you don't show

The USDOT number is on the truck, not the website

“usdot number lookup” gets 3,500 searches a month. Careful customers check a mover before booking. If the number, the reviews and the cover you offer aren't on the site, they book the mover whose site shows them.

03

The wrong storage search

Chasing a term the moving trade rarely wins

“Storage units near me” gets 546,000 searches a month, and most of it is self-storage renters. A mover's storage page wins on “moving and storage” and storage between two homes, so that is what it should answer.

04

Freight site as a brochure

One page about “our fleet” and a phone number

Shippers search by mode and lane: LTL, full truckload, pallets, the route they need covered. A haulage site with one general page and no quote form gives Google nothing to match those searches to.

The Plan

What I'd do for your movers & logistics business

Six moves, in the order they usually pay back. Each one is a service with its own page if you want the detail.

01Local SEO

Win the map pack in every area you cover

Local and same-day moves are decided on the map. Profile categories, matching details on every directory, and reviews that name the move type and the town.

Audit my map presence
02Topical Maps

Plan the site by move type and distance

Local, long-distance, packing, storage, specialty items and freight each get a page, then area and route pages only where you run the work regularly.

Map my moving site
03On-Page SEO

Put the licence, cover and prices on the page

USDOT number, valuation cover, crew sizes and price ranges stated plainly on the service pages, so a careful customer has no reason to leave and check elsewhere.

Fix my service pages
04Content & Copywriting

Write the planning half, then route it

“Moving checklist” gets 24,000 searches a month and “how much to tip movers” 11,000. Each guide links to the estimate page at the point the reader starts pricing the move.

Plan my moving content
05Technical SEO

Stop city and route pages copying each other

Near-identical area and route pages compete with each other. I keep the ones with real local detail, merge the rest, and repoint the internal links to the survivor.

Find my duplicate pages
06Off-Page SEO

Earn links from the moves around you

Local agents, property managers, storage partners and community sites, each checked before outreach. Every link has to make sense for a mover to hold.

How I'd Start

How I'd start on your movers & logistics site

I don't have a published case in this industry yet, so here is the plan rather than borrowed results.

  1. Days 1–30

Audit the site, the map and the trust signals

I crawl the site, check which searches each service page actually ranks for, and review the profile, categories and reviews for every location. You get a short list of what holds rankings back.

  2. Days 31–60

Split the services into their own pages

Local, long-distance, packing, storage and specialty moves each get a page with the licence, cover and price ranges on it. Freight modes get the same treatment if you run haulage.

  3. Days 61–90

Build the area and route pages that earn it

Local pages for the areas you cover most, route pages for the lanes you run every month, and a moving cost guide that routes to the estimate request.

  4. Day 90

Report in booked moves, not visits

Which pages produced estimate requests, calls and freight quotes, by service and area. The next quarter's pages get chosen from that, not from traffic alone.

Work Across Trades?

If you do more than one thing

Trade Terms, Plain English

The words you'll hear, and what they mean

The trade and SEO terms that come up in movers & logistics work, so a report never reads like a foreign language.

USDOT number
The federal ID an interstate mover must carry, which customers look up before booking.
Binding estimate
A written price that can't rise on moving day unless the customer adds items or services.
Valuation
The mover's liability for damage. Released value pays by weight, full value covers repair or replacement.
Storage in transit (SIT)
Short-term storage at the mover's warehouse between pickup and delivery.
LTL freight
Less-than-truckload: a shipment that shares a trailer with other customers' freight.
Map pack
The three businesses Google shows on the map for a local search like “movers near me”.

Questions

What people ask before starting

Should local and long-distance moves have separate pages?

Yes. “Local movers” (28,000 searches a month) and “long distance moving companies” (28,000) are different buyers with different questions. One page for both ranks weaker for each, and the long-distance buyer wants routes, transit times and licensing.

Have you done SEO for moving or haulage companies?

Yes. Moving and road haulage are niches I've worked in. On one UK haulage site, the work landed page-one rankings on several commercial haulage-service terms. I don't have a moving case I'm ready to publish with numbers, so this page shows the plan I'd follow.

Should our USDOT number be on the website?

If you run interstate moves, yes, on the service pages and the footer. “usdot number lookup” gets 3,500 searches a month in the US. Customers check movers before they book, and a number they can verify answers that on your own page.

How do you measure SEO for a moving company?

By estimate requests, calls and booked moves from organic search and the map, by service and area. For freight, by quote requests per mode. Rankings and traffic go in the report, but they are not the headline.

Want more booked moves and freight quotes from Google?

Send me your site and the areas you serve. I'll look at it myself and reply personally, usually within one business day.
