SEO Consultant for Financial Advisors & Retirement Planners

Retirement search splits in two. The local half (“financial advisor near me”, 118,000 searches a month) is decided on the map and on a clear page about who you serve and how you're paid. The research half (RMDs, Social Security timing, Roth conversions, Medicare) is money content under Google's strictest standard, so named advisors and compliance-approved pages win it. I build both, and I give no financial advice on your behalf.

If your site says “holistic wealth solutions” and nothing a retiree actually types, Google has no page to send them to.

Signs this is what's holding you back

01

Faceless advisor pages

A team page with names and headshots, nothing else

Money pages fall under Google's strictest standard (YMYL). A bio with no designations, no word on who the advisor works with and no pages they wrote gives Google nothing to trust, so topic searches go to national publishers.

02

Calculators Google can't read

The retirement tool lives inside a widget or an iframe

The query “rmd calculator” gets 62,000 searches a month. Many advisor calculators load inside an embedded widget, so Google sees a heading and an empty box. On one financial calculator site, my rebuild plan gave each calculator a page of its own.

03

Compliance bottleneck

Drafts queue for review and nothing gets published

Advisors' marketing is regulated, so every page goes through compliance review. Without a plan the drafts stack up. I write in an order review can approve quickly: neutral rule explainers before anything that reads like an opinion.

04

Pages nobody searches for

“Comprehensive wealth solutions” instead of the rule people type

Service pages written in industry language match no real search. Retirees type the rule, the age or the account: RMDs, Roth conversions, when to take Social Security. The site needs a page for each one.

The Plan

What I'd do for your retirement planning business

Six moves, in the order they usually pay back. Each one is a service with its own page if you want the detail.

01Local SEO

Win the map pack in the towns you serve

“Financial advisor near me” gets 118,000 searches a month. A complete profile per office, categories that match the practice, and reviews gathered in line with your compliance policy.

Audit my firm's listing
02On-Page SEO

Build a real page for every advisor

Designations, the clients each advisor works with, how the firm is paid and the pages they wrote. Money search runs on named experts, and most firm sites stop at a headshot.

Review my advisor pages
03Topical Maps

Plan the site around retirement decisions

RMDs, Social Security timing, Roth conversions, rollovers, Medicare and estate basics each get a hub, with the questions below it linking to your consultation page.

Map my advisory site
04Content & Copywriting

Write the rule pages, through compliance

Neutral explainers of how RMDs, full retirement age and IRMAA work. I write for search; your compliance team approves every line before it goes live.

Plan my retirement content
05Technical SEO

Make every calculator crawlable

Each calculator on its own URL, with the inputs and the method written on the page, not only inside a widget. Structured data describes the firm, the advisors and the offices.

Check my calculator pages
06Off-Page SEO

Earn links that suit a regulated firm

Local press, professional associations, and the CPAs and estate attorneys you work with, each checked before outreach. No paid link packages.

The pages your retirement planning site should own

The structure I'd give an independent advisory firm. Every topic page names the advisor who wrote it, links to their bio and passes your compliance review before it goes live.

How I'd Start

How I'd start on your retirement planning site

I don't have a published case in this industry yet, so here is the plan rather than borrowed results.

  1. Days 1–30

Audit the site, the listings and the calculators

I crawl the site, check how Google renders each calculator, and review the profile and reviews for every office. You get a short list of what holds rankings back, and the pages compliance will need to see.

  2. Days 31–60

Build the advisor and office pages

A full page per advisor with designations, the clients they serve and how the firm is paid, plus office pages for the towns you actually serve. They go to compliance as one batch.

  3. Days 61–90

    Publish the retirement rule pages

RMDs, Social Security timing and Roth conversions, written as neutral explainers and approved by compliance, each linking to a crawlable calculator and your consultation page.

  4. Day 90

    Report in consultations, not visits

Which pages produced booked calls and consultation requests, by topic and office. The next quarter's topics get chosen from that, not from traffic alone.

Work Across Trades?

If you do more than one thing

Trade Terms, Plain English

The words you'll hear, and what they mean

The trade and SEO terms that come up in retirement planning work, so a report never reads like a foreign language.

YMYL
“Your Money or Your Life”: topics where Google applies its strictest quality bar. Retirement money is one.
RMD
Required minimum distribution: the yearly amount the IRS requires out of most retirement accounts, currently from age 73.
Full retirement age (FRA)
The age Social Security pays the full benefit. It is 67 for anyone born in 1960 or later.
RIA
Registered investment adviser: a firm registered with the SEC or a state to give investment advice for a fee.
Fiduciary
An advisor legally bound to put the client's interest ahead of their own.
Compliance review
The firm's check of every piece of marketing before it goes live. Regulated advisors can't skip it.

Questions

What people ask before starting

Can you write retirement content without giving financial advice?

Yes. I write neutral explainers of how the rules work: what an RMD is, how full retirement age is set, how IRMAA tiers apply. Recommendations belong to your advisors, and every page goes through your compliance review before it's published.

Have you done SEO for financial advisors before?

Wealth management and financial calculators are niches I've worked in, including a rebuild plan for a calculator-led financial site. I don't have an advisory case with numbers I'm ready to publish, so this page shows the plan I'd follow, not borrowed results.

Are calculators worth building?

Often, yes. The query “rmd calculator” gets 62,000 searches a month and “social security calculator” 50,000. A calculator earns rankings when it has its own page Google can read, with the method explained in words and a clear route to an advisor.

How do you measure SEO for an advisory firm?

By consultation requests and booked calls from organic search and the map, broken down by topic and office. Rankings and traffic go in the report, but the monthly question is which pages started conversations with prospective clients.

Want more booked consultations from Google?

Send me your site and the areas you serve. I'll look at it myself and reply personally, usually within one business day.
